Jason Stratton is the executive chef at Mezzanote in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood. His wide-ranging experience and vision for the cuisine of northern Italy helped land Mezzanotte on Seattle Met magazine’s 2022 list of “Best Italian Food in Seattle.”
Stratton has traveled extensively in Europe, including a semester of college in Granada, Spain, where he later returned for a six-month sabbatical, and trips to France and Italy.
His career began at Seattle’s classic Le Gourmand restaurant, where he started as a dishwasher when he was 16. His He later worked his way up from line cook to sous chef at chef Holly Smith’s restaurant Cafe Juanita. He went on to be co-chef at Jerry Traunfeld’s restaurant Popp. In 2009, Stratton joined Spintasse, which was named one of Seattle’s best restaurants by Seattle Met. The next year, Food & Wine magazine named Startton one of the 10 best new chefs of 2010.
Stratton went on to open two restaurants in Seattle, Artusi and Aragona, before spending four years at mamnoon and sister restaurant mbar. In 2015, he was also a competitor on Bravo’s Top Chef.
