From a young age, Chef Ashwin Vilkhu’s passion for the hospitality industry was ignited by his upbringing in a family deeply rooted in the culinary arts. With his father as a renowned chef and his mother’s innate ability to create an inviting atmosphere, Ashwin was captivated by the transformative power of food, beverage, and ambience.

As he grew older, Ashwin eagerly pursued opportunities within the industry, while working in the kitchen of his parents’ esteemed catering company, Saffron Caterers. It was here that he honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of the art of gastronomy. Inspired by the potential he saw in Saffron Nola and the changing culinary landscape in New Orleans, Ashwin presented his Master’s degree thesis on expanding the family business and its popular pop-up restaurant. The goal was to make an impact on the community from a cultural perspective while also giving back.

Today, Ashwin stands as the Head Chef of Saffron, leading the team with his innovative culinary creations and unwavering commitment to excellence. His expertise and passion shine through in every dish he creates, leaving diners with unforgettable experiences.
